About Hazelmade

Turning Fleeting Moments Into Ones That Last

For more than a decade, Hazelmade has been creating objects that hold stories. Through hand-drawn illustrations and thoughtfully made goods, each piece invites a moment to pause, remember and share something meaningful.

The Story Behind Hazelmade

A Return to Making Objects That Matter

In 2014, Hazelmade Founder and Creative Director Susan Hazel Rich left a graphic design career to create her own line of stationery and gifts. After spending time in the corporate world, Susan chose to return to the root of her artistic practice: making art and objects that tell stories.

Beginning in a small apartment, Susan’s hand-drawn designs resonated with her community as objects that sparked memories and stories shared with loved ones.

As Hazelmade has grown into its Kent, Ohio studio, with a wider range of products and designs, people continue to resonate with the tactile experience of gifting tangible stories that inspire recollection, connection and pause.

The Why Behind Hazelmade

Objects Hold Stories

Objects hold stories. Through time, continued use and the changing of hands, these stories deepen and transform, like patina on brass or fabric softening in the wash. We believe objects inhabit legacies beyond their intended purpose, and that legacy deserves to be shared.

Hazelmade’s home goods and gifts recall not just memory, but the specific feelings of memory: the pop of a tomato from your grandmother’s garden, or the smooth petal of the tulips your neighbor planted.

Hazelmade embodies fleeting moments and invites them to linger.

In this fast-paced world, we find moments to pause. We find the stories in the spaces we carve for ourselves. We know slower doesn’t mean less.

At our table, we always leave room for one more.
